Can you see what’s wrong with the cavity wall extension in this picture?

Let’s see if you can give yourself a pat on the back for spotting the defects that need to be rectified.

In this instance the wall would need to be rebuilt due to the following issues:

  • The junction plate joining the two wall structures does not allow for the appropriate level of movement likely to occur.
  • The existing solid brick walls form a direct path for dampness to bypass the cavity wall and reach the internal finishes.
