We understand the dedication and commitment it takes to deliver quality sites, which is why throughout the year we reward site managers for their exceptional contribution to construction. Demonstrating exceptional site management and workmanship, this prestigious accolade positions site managers as being the best in the industry, providing fantastic exposure not only for the site manager and team, but also for the associated developer or contractor.
Through our partnership with LABC, the Site Manager Award is presented at each of the regional LABC Building Excellence Award ceremonies, leading up to the national finals where the National Site Manager of the Year is crowned.
September - January: Warranty Risk Management Surveyors submit initial nominations.
February - March: Nominations are verified and shortlisted by Regional Surveying Managers.
April - July: Shortlisted site managers are announced and invited to the regional awards. Each regional winner becomes a national finalist.
September - October: Regional winners are invited to the national finals. Judges review national site manager finalists.
November: The National Site Manager of the Year is revealed at the LABC Grand Finals.
If you tick all the boxes below, notify your Warranty Risk Management Surveyor as they are responsible for putting you forward as a contender for the Site Manager Award, providing you meet the following criteria:
1: Must have a minimum of 3 units on site.
2: At least one unit past the second fix stage should be available at the time of judging.
3: The Building Control function should be carried out by the region in which the nomination is made.
4: Where there are one or more site managers are responsible for a development, both can be considered for nomination.
5: Developments must be covered by LABC Warranty and have been inspected across most stages of the build by LABC Warranty Risk Management Surveyors.
6: A site manager who has won in two consecutive years will not be eligible for a nomination the following year.
Each site manager will be scored on site, looking at specific areas of the build including foundations, substructure, superstructure, finishes and on-site management functions. These include:
- Site administration
- Health and safety welfare facilities
- Storage and protection of materials
- Protection of work in progresS
- Waste control
- Site tidiness
Site managers must display a range of skills reflecting their on-site management and workmanship including the below:
- Well organised, demonstrating planned processes and good safety procedures
- Technical compliance and management of site issues
- Maintaining a clean and tidy site
- Leadership skills and forward thinking
- Assertive but fair, which is apparent and can be assessed by the culture on site
- Good attention to detail
What sets the winning site manager above the rest is their vision for quality and going that extra mile. Often their attributes portray that 'good enough' is simply not acceptable so they look to improve on their successes and always strive for perfection. Being thorough in their workmanship will enhance their chance of winning an award.
Winning an award means a lot to our site managers, it’s a personal accomplishment evidencing quality build in construction and a commendation to the assisted site team. This is why we want you to proclaim loudly to the world just how good you really are and most of all to your potential home buyers.
